Photos with Santa at Battle Ground Village!

Photos with Santa!
Born and raised in Salmon Creek, Tim Matthiesen (aka Santa Tim) has been married to his wife, Pam, for over 35 years. Together they have two children and 4 grandchildren. Being Santa has been a dream of Tim’s for several years. Finally, with the help of New Castle Photography, he is able to fulfill that dream.

“Most of my life I have had a beard, but about a decade ago it became Santa white,” chuckles Tim. “For years now, as my wife and I are out and about, little kiddos will run up to me with a big hug or they will take my hand in theirs. They will look up at me with the biggest smiles – ‘Hi SANTA! How are you doing? Are you in disguise?’ they may ask. It warms my heart to see how excited they are.”

Children of all ages can come and visit with Santa during his stopover at the Battle Ground Village Holiday Shoppe & Bazaar (802 SE 14th Ave. Suite #101). Below are the dates and times Santa will be in town:

·        Thursday, November 21:                    11am-3pm
·        Fridays, November 22 & 29:               10am-5pm
·        Saturdays, November 23 & 30:           10am-5pm
·        Thursday, December 5:                      11am-3pm
·        Friday, December 6:                           10am-5pm
·        Saturday, December 7:                       10am-5pm

New Castle Photography has designed a classically beautiful holiday setting, not found in a typical mall photo. They have exclusive holiday photo packages with no sitting fees, and priced to fit every budget.

“Our goal is for every child and family to have a warmhearted experience of talking one-on-one with Santa - giggling, smiling, and telling him that they have been ‘good’ this year, creating memories that will last a lifetime,” says Cassandra Parker, co-owner of New Castle Photography.

Santa is visiting the BG Village Holiday Shoppe and Bazaar!

BATTLE GROUND VILLAGE HOSTS HOLIDAY SHOPPE & BAZAAR
Local artisans have an opportunity to sell to holiday shoppers & Santa is visiting!

Battle Ground Village is hosting a Holiday Shoppe & Bazaar this 2013 holiday season. The Shoppe, located across the street from Laurelwood Public House and Brewery, will be offering a wide variety of quality, handmade products including wooden toys and furniture, jewelry, paintings, specialty foods, handmade cards, and treats.

This is the third year Battle Ground Village has opened its doors to a retail-type Holiday Shoppe. Last year, the Shoppe was a huge hit with customers, as well as the vendors. The Shoppe, located at 802 SE 14th Avenue Suite #101, is open between 10am – 5pm, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, beginning November 7th, running through December 14th. The Shoppe will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

“I am so thrilled to be participating in the Shoppe again this year,” exclaims Don Clark, woodcrafter and vendor at the BGVillage outdoor market. “Before the store opens, the vendors join together and decorate the space. I believe the customers appreciate the cozy, inviting atmosphere where they don’t have the frantic mall crowds and they can spend time finding that special gift while sipping warm apple cider and listening to holiday music.”
Battle Ground Village has many retail gift shops and restaurants that attract customers from all over the area, and now customers will have another “shoppe” to visit, filled with unique holiday gifts for their friends and family. Additionally, children of all ages can come and visit with Santa during his visit to the Village Shoppe later in November. Below are the dates and times Santa will be in town:

·        Thursday, November 21:                    11am-3pm
·        Fridays, November 22 & 29:               10am-5pm
·        Saturdays, November 23 & 30:           10am-5pm
·        Thursday, December 5:                      11am-3pm
·        Friday, December 6:                           10am-5pm
·        Saturday, December 7:                       10am-5pm

Local photographer, Nathalie Pinzone with New Castle Photography, will be at the Holiday Shoppe taking photos of Santa visiting with families and little ones. “We have designed a classically beautiful holiday setting, not found in a typical mall photo,” explains Nathalie. “New Castle has exclusive holiday photo packages, no sitting fees, and priced to fit every budget.”

“Our goal is for every child and family to have a warmhearted experience of talking one-on-one with Santa - giggling, smiling, telling him that they have been ‘good’ this year, creating memories that will last a lifetime,” says Cassandra Parker, co-owner of New Castle Photography.

The Shoppe will be decorated for the holidays, with lights, garland, and fun ornaments. “It’s not every day that local artists and craftsmen have a chance to run their own shop,” says Carmen Villarma, Battle Ground Village developer. “The vendors can accept their own payment, or there is a central cashier accepting most forms of payment, including credit card. We tried to make it as easy and stress-free for the customers and vendors to enjoy their holiday shopping experience at Battle Ground Village.”

Lacey Kirsch, owner of The Eclectic Homestead, says “This will be my second year participating in the Holiday Shoppe. Last year I was nine months pregnant and not able to be at the Shoppe to greet visitors every day, but this year I am excited to be the main cashier and have the daily pleasure of welcoming guests to our Bazaar. Most bazaars are one day long, and if you miss it, you have to wait until next year or search out a different one. Ours continues for six weeks, three days a week!”

Welcome Emanar Cellars to BG Village!

Emanar Cellars is:

A warm and cozy place in Battle Ground Village to taste and buy unique wine that takes you away to Spain, one of the cultural capitals of our world. Mar and Richard have gathered details and passions from their travels and created a wine bar that will invite you into their story.  Everything at Emanar has a story – ask!  You will leave feeling like you captured something no one else knows.  Emanar features Spanish variety wines grown in the high deserts of Eastern Washington, wines of SW Washington and wines of Spain.

The Emanar Cellars Story

There is something magnificent and inviting about Spain.  In Battle Ground, there is only one place you can find that something - Emanar Cellars Wine Tasting Room.  Walk through the front door and you’ll find yourself at home in Madrid. Hints of the invitation are even mounted to the exterior walls.  Complete but uncluttered decor offers a compelling and comfortable ambiance to taste, discover and visit.

Mar grew up in Madrid.  Her family and childhood memories are there.  She is not just passionate about Spanish culture, she lives the culture of Spain.  She and Richard share a mutual taste for Spanish wine and culture.  They’ve been nurturing their interest and passion for many years by immersing themselves in an informal wine education including classes at UC Davis, vineyard tours through Portland Community College and consultations with an advisor at Washington State University Vancouver.

Richard and Mar attended to every detail to create a warm and accurate cultural experience.  Whether you are a native Spaniard or wish you could visit, you’ll find satisfaction at Emanar.  Every detail tells a story.  Every nuance is considered carefully and joyfully as part of the experience they offer.

The shape of their wine glasses is suited specifically to the type of wine they are used for and they are made with titanium instead of lead.  The wafers that are part of their tastings come from a 300 year old recipe.  The crackers were discovered on a wine tour but are hard to find any where else in the area.  Their flamenco dancer came to them from Spain through Hong Kong and China.  The wrought iron is hand crafted by a local artisan.  The tiles, plaques and pictures each tell a story.  Just ask and listen - you’ll find yourself washed in Spanish culture and the enthusiasm of its proponents.

As self-professed aficionados, the Meyerhoefer’s are new connoisseurs.  The joy they find in the wine experience is infectious and inviting.  Whether you are a snob or a newbie, you will be welcome at Emanar Cellars.  Their adventure of discovery has produced a place where your discoveries and theirs can be shared.

Emanar will be serving three of it’s own blends.  Catalina Red, which is a reference to Mar’s maiden name, Cata Red, which means “tasting room” and Ciriaco Red named for her father.  These wines are made with grapes grown on the Wahluke Slope AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the Columbia Valley appellation in Eastern Washington.  This area resulted from glacial flooding through the Sentinel Gap in the Saddle Mountains and created an ideal growing environment for wine grapes that is very similar to the environment in Spain.

In addition to their own, there are several imported Spanish wines and a few wines from local wineries.  Wine can be purchased by the bottle.  The Emanar wine club, "Club Le Cata," provides the opportunity for discounts and special events for those who are interested in buying at least three bottles of wine per quarter.

Come and visit Emanar Cellars - experience Spanish hospitality.  Because of the Meyerhoefer’s personal interest, you’ll leave with something no one else knows.

HOURS OF OPERATION

This Saturday is Art in the Park at BG Village!

BATTLE GROUND VILLAGE OUTDOOR MARKET HOSTS
‘ART IN THE PARK’, September 7th
Everyone is invited to bring their art of any kind:
photographs, sculptures, paintings, fashion, writing.

If you are a budding, or seasoned, artist (of any age) and would like to display and sell your heartfelt artwork, then Saturday, September 7th at the Battle Ground Village Outdoor Market is your opportunity! There will be tents and tables set up in Central Park for participants to use free of charge; of course, if you have a lot of items, please bring your own table and/or easels.

My children are excited to bringing out their canvases and photographs to ‘show-off’ and sell,” says Jennifer Riddle, Market Director. “I am looking forward to watching them describe their ‘creative process’ to visitors. I am also looking forward to seeing all the wonderfully imaginative artwork from local residents.”

Art in the Park” opens at 10am and runs through 3pm. If you are interested in participating in the event, just bring your items to the Central Park area and find an open space to display your work. The Battle Ground Art Alliance will also have an information booth at the Market. Beth Johnson-Burger, the President of the Alliance, will be there handing out information about the non-profit organization, their upcoming Studio Tour on September 14th, and answering any questions.

The Battle Ground Art Alliance is a place for new and experienced artists in the area to network and create friendships,” explains Johnson-Burger. “The Alliance is not media specific, so we connect with photographers, sculptors, writers, painters, and designers.”

Art in the Park” is a great occasion for developing artists of all ages to present their work, connect with other artists in the area, and receive feedback.

Visitors to the Market will be able to view the art, as well as stroll through the Market, where returning produce vendors and nurseries, Yacolt Mountain Farm and Nursery, Charter Oak Farm, Hill’s Naturally Grown, Jacki’s Heirloom Garden, Five Sprout Farm, and ZK Flowers and Produce will be selling produce and flowers ripe and blooming for the season.
“We are family and pet friendly, with live local musicians and kid activities, like face painting and pony rides. It’s a perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon--shopping, eating, relaxing and listening to music,” explains Susan Walters, Market Manager.

A list of vendors, details of all the Market events, and special happenings, including what is coming up in September, is located on the Battle Ground Village website: www.bgvillage.com.

Battle Ground Village Outdoor Market hours are from 10am-3pm every Saturday through September 28th, rain or shine. Parking is free and is easily accessible. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, the registration forms are on the Battle Ground Village website.
