Photos with Santa at Battle Ground Village!

Photos with Santa!
Born and raised in Salmon Creek, Tim Matthiesen (aka Santa Tim) has been married to his wife, Pam, for over 35 years. Together they have two children and 4 grandchildren. Being Santa has been a dream of Tim’s for several years. Finally, with the help of New Castle Photography, he is able to fulfill that dream.

“Most of my life I have had a beard, but about a decade ago it became Santa white,” chuckles Tim. “For years now, as my wife and I are out and about, little kiddos will run up to me with a big hug or they will take my hand in theirs. They will look up at me with the biggest smiles – ‘Hi SANTA! How are you doing? Are you in disguise?’ they may ask. It warms my heart to see how excited they are.”

Children of all ages can come and visit with Santa during his stopover at the Battle Ground Village Holiday Shoppe & Bazaar (802 SE 14th Ave. Suite #101). Below are the dates and times Santa will be in town:

·        Thursday, November 21:                    11am-3pm
·        Fridays, November 22 & 29:               10am-5pm
·        Saturdays, November 23 & 30:           10am-5pm
·        Thursday, December 5:                      11am-3pm
·        Friday, December 6:                           10am-5pm
·        Saturday, December 7:                       10am-5pm

New Castle Photography has designed a classically beautiful holiday setting, not found in a typical mall photo. They have exclusive holiday photo packages with no sitting fees, and priced to fit every budget.

“Our goal is for every child and family to have a warmhearted experience of talking one-on-one with Santa - giggling, smiling, and telling him that they have been ‘good’ this year, creating memories that will last a lifetime,” says Cassandra Parker, co-owner of New Castle Photography.

Get Fit For Spring

Get Bold Training in the Battle Ground Village has many classes throughout the day to get you fit!

With spring right around the corner, isn't it time you started thinking about fitting into those short-sleeved tops and shorts? If you haven't already made an exercise routine as part of your New Year's resolution, consider beginning one now.

Did you know that you could become fitter by just walking 10,000 steps a day? Exercise doesn't have to mean lifting weights and spending your afternoon and weekends on an exercise machine. If you don't have any idea how many steps a day you are already taking, purchase an inexpensive pedometer. This handy little device measures how many steps you take in a given day. After you get an idea of your average steps per day, try increasing them slowly by parking your car a little farther away from your workplace or taking a walk after lunch or dinner. Walking increases your metabolism and helps to burn off extra pounds you may have gained during the holidays.

Visit http://www.getboldevents.com/ for a complete list of activities and classes.

Trendy Haircuts at Skillz Salon in Battle Ground, WA

The Trendy Hairstyle for Older Women

The shag is a very trendy hairstyle that many women have sported. The shag allows easy changes for quick beautiful looks. With many variations, the shag allows for little differences in the ends with curls, waves, and other little changes. Another great hairstyle trend is the versatile cut that allows many different looks. The versatile cut allows bobs, curls, different length ends as well. Hairstyles like Barbara Walters are some of the trendiest styles for this type.

Trendy Hair for Younger Woman

For younger girls, there are also many trendy hairstyles to fit each facial shape and hair type. The shag is one of the dominant hairstyles here as it also allows many different looks. Ashlee Simpson's shag hairstyle is a great example of how the shag can be changed to fit any look. Another trendy hairstyle is the Heather Locklear hairstyle of long flowing locks. This trendy style is great for any hair color but works best with thick or layered hair. Similar to this style is the one worn by Hilary Duff. For shorter hair, the Aniston hairstyle is still a trendy hairdo that achieves a great look. With many hairstyles ranging from short styles of Meg Ryan to exotic hairstyles like Jennifer Lopez coming back, trendy hairstyles continue to grow.

Looking For Movies To Rent For Your Next Date Night?

How many times have you walked the aisles of your local video store, bickering about what movie to watch on date night? Or worse yet, had a spat whilst hovering over the redbox screen outside of the supermarket?? I designed this lens to help alleviate some of the frustration surrounding the selection of a good date night movie. I've got something for every taste and situation, from traditional date night fare, to family friendly picks, guy friendly selections, movies to earn you guys some bonus points, and even a few indie movies for your underground movie nerds. Check out these finds:

The Wedding Singer

"Has a good story, believable characters, comedy, and lots of 80s jams."

The Ugly Truth (Widescreen Edition)

"I didn't think I'd like this movie, yet I did. It's funny, yet close enough to reality that it doesn't feel forced like a lot of "romantic comedy" does."

My Best Friend's Girl (Unrated)

"If you like Kate Hudson or Dane Cook, then this movie is for you. They're both at their best in this movie. It's funny, over the top at times, and pretty insane overall. I didn't care for the ending."

Wedding Crashers - Uncorked (Unrated Full Screen Edition)

"I didn't expect the Wilson/Vaughn combo to work, but it does and it works well. Christopher Walken as a paranoid Republican senator cannot be missed. Sometimes a bit cheesy for my tastes and it stretches a bit for laughs at times."

The Break-Up (Full Screen Edition)

"Another Vince Vaughn movie. This time he plays opposite Jennifer Aniston, who is basically the female version of Matthew McConaughey...the characters and scenarios in the movie are very real and the two main characters are believable."

Twilight Video in the Battle Ground Village has a wide variety of movies to choose from!  Check them out at 1417 SE Rasmussen Blvd, Suite 101, Battle Ground, WA  98604.  Store Hours: 10am-9pm-Saturday

The health benefits of wine

Every Wednesday is Wine Wednesday at Bones Steakhouse at the Battle Ground Village.  Visit us and get 1/2 a bottle of wine with the purchase of two entrees!

Wine has it's health benefits! Here’s what we know:

It’s been well documented that moderate amounts of alcohol can raise your good cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol) and thin your blood. This is thought to be one of the primary cardiovascular benefits from wine (red and white), as well as hard liquor and beer.

Non-alcoholic phytochemicals in wine, such as flavanoids and resveratrol, act as antioxidants and prevent molecules known as “free radicals” from causing cellular damage in the body.  Although some studies which have focused on the health benefits of resveratrol use much greater dosages than you’ll find in an average glass of wine, resveratrol has been shown to prevent blood clotting and plaque formation in arteries by altering lipid profiles and plasma viscosity.  Findings from a recent study suggest that resveratrol can produce potent anti-thrombotic agents that can potentially improve cardiovascular health and lower the risk for coronary heart disease.  In animal studies, resveratrol reduced tumor incidence by affecting one or more stages of cancer development.

Red wine provides much more resveratrol compared to white. That’s because the longer the skin is kept on the grape during the wine making process, the greater the concentration of resveratrol in the wine. In the case of white wine production, the skin is removed before fermentation, giving white wines a lower concentration in resveratrol compared to red wines. Also, wines made in cooler climates have greater amounts of resveratrol too. Thus, red wine from cool climates have the most resveratrol.
